18th-Oct-2014 07:07 am - IUI yesterday
standing
Well, we had our IUI yesterday. DH didn't think he had a good sample, but it was 11 million and they said they like to see over 5, so that was good. I only had 1 egg though per the u/s the day before. We were told to dtd for 3 nights also (Fri, Sat, Sun)... which I know won't happen. DH is doing good if he can manage twice in a week. He had to go into work last night so that didn't happen, but we'll try for tonight. I start progesterone inserts Monday.
I had some spotting and am still cramping... I don't remember that from previous IUI's but it's been 6 years since my last one so maybe my memory is just fuzzy. Testing in 2 weeks!
standing
CD12, I had my u/s today (was supposed to be yesterday but I had to reschedule due to a funeral on the other end of the state). I had a 24mm follicle on the right, and a 14mm and 11mm on the left. They wanted me to get in for my IUI sooner rather than later due to the large size of the biggest follicle. So they gave me my trigger and we go in for IUI tomorrow afteroon!
I hope DH's counts are ok... we dtd last night. We were supposed to either Mon or Tues, but that didn't work for us due to a sick daughter who wouldn't sleep, (has a cold, DH has it too actually) and I figured being the u/s was moved back a day the dtd could be too. I wasn't really having EWCM yet either until today, so I thought it would still be a few days until IUI time. Oh well, nothing I can do about that now.
5th-Oct-2014 08:22 am - RE time!
standing
After not being 100% sure if I ovulated or not this cycle, and having tiny amounts of spotting on and off for over a week, I woke up to AF this morning. So now it's time to call the RE and get started on our IUI cycle! We are only going to try 1 time due to financial reasons, so I really hope this works.
future of science
I posted my intro not long ago, but for those not wishing to look back, I'm Sarah. :)

I went off the pill in January, but we weren't actively TTC. For a couple of cycles, I had nice, round, 28 day cycles with nothing unusual, then I had two with some substantial mid-cycle bleeding from day 14. Based on my mum's history, I figured this was fibroids (ack! Another potential roadblock!), but an ultrasound showed nothing much out of the ordinary (there is a small ovarian cyst, but the GP and radiologist didn't think much of it). However, I can't get in to see a gynaecologist until October. Even more frustrating, since seeing the doctor, the bleeding is much, much less (is my uterus running scared???) but still happening at day 13-14.

So... Not pregnant, something is weird but I don't know what, and nothing I can do about it until October. It could be ovulation bleeding related to the cyst or unrelated, or it could be something else.

I'm thinking I need to start tracking my cycle more closely. Has anyone used just a regular digital thermometer, or is the extra-special kind necessary?
28th-Jul-2014 02:15 pm - BFP
Just got my BFP call from the doc.  This was our first round of IVF after three failed IUI's and over a year of trying naturally before that.  Thanks everyone for your support this entire time.  *hugs*

1. First name? Sarah

2. Age? Location? Marital Status? 40, Australia, engaged

3. How did you find this community? I'm a member of pregnant, but haven't posted in a while.

4. How long have you been trying for a baby and what challenges do you have? (ie. medical issues, previous miscarriages, etc) I guess the main challenge is age, but we haven't had much trouble conceiving before. My second child was born prematurely last September and died at 6 days old. We used contraception for a few months to let my body recover, but I've been off BC for about 4-5 months.

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant? Nothing I wasn't doing already. I'm 3-6kg overweight by the BMI, so I've been working on a balanced, nutritious diet, counting calories and increasing exercise to lose a little weight and generally be in good shape for pregnancy. I have my caffeine down to 1-2 cups of coffee a day.

6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband? We're not very random at all. :) We met at university some 20+ years ago, were friends for nearly 17 years, during which time he was married and then divorced. Some time after the divorce, he and another old friend came to a conference in the town I had moved to and... one thing led to another. Sometimes it really has to be the right time.

7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant? Anxious. I realise miscarriage is not a lj-cut-worthy item in this community, but I'm not sure how infant death is? As I've had a prem baby, I will have a lot of additional monitoring this pregnancy, and of course since I felt fine all along, I'm afraid I won't be able to just enjoy the pregnancy. I wish I could fast forward and have a new baby and not all the fear. I'm worried about my age and all the things that could go wrong. Generally, very anxious. And concerned that I just won't have the opportunity, despite not having other fertility issues.

8. What do you hope to get out of being a member of this community? I hope to have a place where I can express all these anxieties without judgement.

9. What are you looking forward to the most about being a new mom or having another baby? Meeting my new little person and watching him or her grow. Motherhood has been every bit as rewarding as I hoped, even if it is frustrating.

10. Anything else you'd like to tell us or anything you think we should know about you?

Hello everyone! Thought I give an update and rant at the same time.

So my PCP did some blood work a couple of weeks ago and now I'm a full blown type 2 diabetic, unspecified. She has me taking metformin @ 500mg ER and blood pressure pills. I'm trying not to let the diagnostic get to me but it just seems like something else that has popped up to make ttcing more difficult. In addition to that I just finish my first clomid cycle and it was a bust. I wasn't expecting to get pregnant right on the first time but I didn't even ovulate! Plus the provera caused my induced period to last 13 days.

Tuesday I go to see my PCP to receive the results of my latest bloodwork for my thyroid. She'll probably chew me out as well because I didn't get an abdominal ultrasound on my liver like she wanted. My insurance didn't cover it so the place she referred me to wanted $400 to do the test, had to cancel it because my fund are tight due to tapping into my emergency funds. Unless my PCP can find a place that will let me make reasonable payment arrangements or is covered by my insurance it'll have to wait until my finances straighten themselves out, which won't be until mid September.

I go back to my OBGYN on the 27th. I'm hoping that she'll do some more testing to see why I didn't ovulate and way my progesterone was so low. It was 0.5 @ cd26 and all the opks I have taken show that I haven't ovulate at all.I'll have to update her about my Type II status and see if she'll still be able to help me or if she'll have to refer me to another doctor.

Baby, He Lives!, Morticia
The Provincial Government of Ontario in Canada has proposed to pay for women with "any kind of fertility" to have one round of IVF, albeit with only one embryo transfer. It would be a tiny improvement from the current situation in this Canadian province where currently the government healthcare system only pays for 3 rounds of IVF for women with both tubes blocked or damaged.

You can read about the proposal here:

30th-Mar-2014 10:04 am - Clomid Side Effects
Hello all,

I've been a part of this community for some time, though I mostly lurk instead of post.  As a recap we've been ttc for almost two years.  We already have one child which we got first try but for some reason that has our doctors stumped we just can't get pregnant again.

Anyway, we've given up natural pregnancy and I'm on my second cycle of clomid.

What I'm wondering is what different people's reaction to the clomid was.  It made me narcoleptic.  I was so tired I could barely operate a car.  I stopped exercising.  Stopped socializing.  I was a zombie for four days.   Outside of the narcolepsy it made me very calm and level-headed.  I'm embarrassed to say I'm normally very anxious and high-strung, prone to worrying and over-thinking.  I kind of liked me on the clomid though.

I suppose on the list of heinous side effects I could be having that's a blessing, but I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this?  What did clomid do to you?

4. How long have you been trying for a baby and what challenges do you have? (ie. medical issues, previous miscarriages, etc) My fiancée and I have been trying on and off for four years but took a break when we bought our house two years ago. So altogether six years. I have a thyroid problem (hypo), board line diabetic, secondary amenorrhea, and being overweight 30 pounds. After six months of no periods went to OBGYN and told her I wanted to conceive and that I haven't been cycling. She prescribed me Provera and Clomid today.

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant? I'm been taking medication for my thyroid, taking folic acid and prenatal. I plan on buying Vitamin C, preseed, and OPKs when I pick up my prescription for provera.

6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband? We both play video games and he knows that I blog. We're an interracial couple, he's white and I'm black.

Hi,

My husband and I are both 35 years old, newly married and about to start the journey of TTC baby #1.

I am awaiting my period (hopefully this weekend) so we can get this first cycle started.

I am unaware of any health problems to either of us that could be a hurdle (apart from age and time).

I do have health anxiety which I hope doesn't become too bad.

Anyway, hi and good luck to all!
29th-Dec-2013 03:20 pm - Trying to Conceive
~*~POOP~*~
Hello,
I am 27 and have been trying to conceive with my husband for over 2 years now.  We have been working with the Reproductive Science Center for about 5 months.  I never had regular periods.  I then went on birth control for about 2 or 3 years, then when I got off of it, I never got another period.  After 8 months I decided to call the doctor.  I just finished going through a cycle where I took Provera to trigger a period, Clomid with something else for the ovulation, and the Ovadryl shot to do at home, then I did the IUI.  We have to wait 2 weeks to find out if it worked.  I do not feel pregnant at all but it is a bit early. I find out on New Years eve!  These 2 weeks have been driving me nuts! I would be soooo excited to find out I am pregnant and sooo sad if I find out I'm not.

23rd-Sep-2013 06:36 am - RE visit and hypothyroidism
standing
I haven't posted in a while, but I just wanted to update. DH and I went to the RE for a consult this past Tuesday. They did a pelvic ultrasound and all looked good there, and drew a bunch of blood work, and did a semen analysis on DH. The doctor went ahead and started me on Femera (I was on CD7), and I go back this Thursday for a follow-up u/s, and at the end of October to go over all the test results because some of the things they were testing for take a few weeks to get results.
Now, here's where things take a turn..... they called me on Thursday and told me some of lab work results came in, and it looks like I am hypothyroid. (my free T4 was 0.9 and TSH was 4.81). So they started me on levothyroxine and I have to have my thyroid levels rechecked in 6 weeks. I also have low testosterone and one other hormone... I think it was prolactin? But the nurse said that the RE would talk about that in more detail at our follow-up the end of Oct, but they wanted me to start the thyroid meds right away.
So... what effect will this have on ttc? I'm sure he'll go over that with me next month, but any insight before then would be great!

3. How did you find this community?
Used LJ's "explore" button

4. How long have you been trying for a baby and what challenges do you have? (ie. medical issues, previous miscarriages, etc)
Just starting out. I had a Mirena IUD for 8 years, and just had it removed this month. Not really sure what my body is feeling right now, I've been without a period so long, but I guess I'll find out. :)

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant?
Started taking the vitamins, cut out alcohol, started charting my cycle, but not temps. Im considering it though. DH has kicked the smoking habit. Yay! We're at a year smoke free, so that is very exciting! (That was the deal. Quit, and I'll let you knock me up. Lol!). Trying to make a conserved effort to eat healthier, oh and I stopped fire dancing. I miss it, but oh well. :)

6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband?
#1 DH and I met at a medieval reenactment event. We were introduced by my then boyfriend. He was so convinced that we should be together, he broke up with me! Since we like to say "we" are his fault, he was the minister at our wedding. :)

#2 DH and I firedance together, that's pretty random. Been doing it for about 2 years. I decided to quit because I figured better safe than sorry while TTC. I still play with LED lights now, but when my belly gets in the way, I'll probably quit that too.

7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant?
Very excited, but a little nervous. I'm a mom of 3, and haven't gotten pregnant in a decade, so I'm a little nervous! This will be DH's first, and probably only child, unless he changes his mind, and we can get a bigger place. ;)

8. What do you hope to get out of being a member of this community?
Someone to talk to. DH is fairly insistent that we don't tell anyone til after 12 weeks...

9. What are you looking forward to the most about being a new mom or having another baby?
The smell of a baby's milk breath... And breastfeeding... And tiny toes... and sleepy smiles that make you tear up... Such amazing things to look forward to. I can't wait!

10. Anything else you'd like to tell us or anything you think we should know about you?
Like I said, I'm a mom of three from a prev. marriage, DH and I are now trying for one of our own. He and ex-wife got pregnant, but the baby had terrible birth defects. Random mutations- not genetic. They decided to try to give the baby a shot at life, but didn't make it, and he died en utero at 8 months. As a result, DH is pretty nervous about the idea of being "pregnant" but desperately wants a child of his own. So, I'll be having to hang extra tight for him a little, but it's not my first hayride, so I'm sure I'll be okay. :)

26th-Aug-2013 10:10 am - question
sjp lovely
Hello there, I have aquestion about how you live whilst TTC?

Do you live as if you were pregnant, or do you wait until you get that positive test before you make the changes?

The changes I'm talking about include: giving up soft cheeses, deli meats, vitamin-A rich foods, raw fish etc; avoiding aspirin and codeine and other such medications; abstaining from alcohol and caffeine; etc etc...

If you do make changes, what are they and why?
If you don't make changes, why not?

THANKS :)

3. How did you find this community?
via the "pregnant" comm

4. How long have you been trying for a baby and what challenges do you have? (ie. medical issues, previous miscarriages, etc)
We've just started TTC #2. For #1 we were TTC for 7 months with irregular cycles and my ob gyn wanted to put me on clomid but I kind of delayed and got pregnant while I was dilly-dallying around the issue. WIth #1 I had gestational diabetes and very severe postnatal depression and I am terrified of going through the pnd a second time I have to say. I'm still on medication for the depression which I'm worried about in relation to the baby but my dr assures me it'll be fine.

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant?
Started taking the vitamins, cut out alcohol and carbonated beverages (already don't have caffeine).

6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband?
My husband is probably more clucky than I am (if possible). He is a very hands on father and very involved in all of it. Since I've finally acquiesced and gone along with TTC #2 he has been thrilled and so happy with me! :) Its very sweet. I'm the eldest of 5 children and am a very "baby-friendly" kind of person. We're both the sort of people that coo over strangers babies and stuff :)

7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant?
Utterly terrified and very excited all at once!

8. What do you hope to get out of being a member of this community?
I'm not comfortable discussing my TTC status with people IRL, so I am hoping to find a
supportive network of women I can discuss this roller coaster with!

9. What are you looking forward to the most about being a new mom or having another baby?
I feel like it will be a second chance and a new beginning to do it "right" this time (without the pnd). I can't wait to introduce the new baby to my son, and see his reaction to the whole situation (I just know he will be THRILLED). Oh and feeling a kick. I'm getting teary right now thinking about that feeling. I've missed it so terribly.

10. Anything else you'd like to tell us or anything you think we should know about you?
Not at this stage.

I've been charting for the past 6 years so thought I knew what I was doing ... but 5 cycles into TTC maybe I've been going about this wrong.

What is the possibility of one ovulating 4-5 days before seeing the temperature shift?

"One of the most common mistakes couples make is trying to time intercourse by waking temperature." (TCOYF, pg. 150)
Instead, "the most important tip for getting pregnant is to have intercourse on the Peak Day, which is the last day of eggwhite cervical fluid or lubricative vaginal sensation." (TCOYF, pg. 168)

I had been timing intercourse closest to my temp shift on CD 17-18. However, my cervical mucus pattern is inconsistent and I don't see eggwhite right before that temp shift. It's usually several days earlier.

For what it's worth, this cycle I've armed myself with Robitussin, Pre-Seed, and OPKs. Oh also, I have well managed hypothyroidism if that matters.

26th-Jul-2013 04:40 pm - Side effects of Clomid

Hi all

I was just wondering if there was anyone here who has been on Clomid before. Could you share with me what your side effects were?

I've only taken it for 2 days for the first time, and the side effects are pretty strong... If that's what is causing it!!

So far I'm having...

Hot flushes
Slight cramps
Nausea (terrible!!)
And no energy - I just wanna lie in bed

Any info and your experiences are appreciated :-)

Thanks

3. How did you find this community?
I just did a search on infertility on LJ
4. How long have you been trying for a baby and what challenges do you have? (ie. medical issues, previous miscarriages, etc)
We have been trying for a baby for 2 years. Within the first 5 months of trying I conceived my first baby, but sadly miscarried at 8 weeks. It took about 7 months following that to seek medical advice where It was discovered I have PCOS
5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant?
A lot of research!! Many gynae appointments, and just beginning first cycle of Clomid (day 2 of pill taking today)
6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband?
hmm where to begin :-)
7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant?
I'm so excited, I'm anxious and nervous and terrified! I desperately want it more than anything right now, but I'm scared of it failing again! But rather than focusing on that, I'm just trying to be positive about my treatment working, and I'll deal with my worries when I actually have success conceiving.
8. What do you hope to get out of being a member of this community?
I want to know I'm not alone, to know there's others out there who face the same things and understand maybe a little of my pain. I have no one in my life who has ever been through infertility, so it's difficult to share this with them.
9. What are you looking forward to the most about being a new mom or having another baby?
I wanna cuddle my baby and love them, I wanna watch them grow and teach them new things. I'm looking forward to all the blessings that a baby brings, and working through the challenging times. I have so much love to give
10. Anything else you'd like to tell us or anything you think we should know about you?
Not that I can think of. Please ask me anything :-)
17th-Jul-2013 09:41 pm - Just Another TTC Diva
1. First name?
I guess just call me Diva?  Sorry, I'm trying to remain anonymous on the interwebs when it comes to this particular topic 'cause my cervical mucus, or the scheduling of my sex life, aren't exactly topics I want sharing with my colleagues, if you know what I mean.  :)  Yet, I think that such TMI discussions are kind of the bread and butter of TTC communities, so I ain't holdin' back!

2. Age? Location? Marital Status?
Mid-thirties, USA, happily married

3. How did you find this community?
I just did a search for TTC or fertility or something.  I don't remember exactly which keyword.

4. How long have you been trying for a baby and what challenges do you have? (ie. medical issues, previous miscarriages, etc)
We've been trying for almost exactly a year and we have no #$%^#% clue what the challenge is.  We already have one child and she was made right away.  Effortless conception and pregnancy.  Even easier all natural water birth that was over in about an hour.  *Diva ducks as everybody reading this starts throwing things at her.*  So I guess I'm now paying for the fact that the first time was so easy because this time it seems impossible.

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant?
I'm a research maven so I've done all of the readings and I've been charting monthly for something like 7 years.  I haven't entered the realm of medical intervention yet though because frankly, it scares me a little bit.  I wouldn't say I'm completely crunchy granola, but I try to do things naturally as much as I can and I'm having trouble accepting that I might need some medical help this time around.

6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband?
Random?  I'm totally drawing a blank on this one.

7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant?
Technically, I still have hope.  And I want to cultivate that hope.  I NEED to cultivate that hope, because I feel it slipping away every day.  Every time a temp drops.  Every time I feel that twinge that is distinctly campy as opposed to implantation.  I'm feeling discouraged, but I'm holding on.

8. What do you hope to get out of being a member of this community?
I would love a buddy or three.  Two or three people that I can always turn to and chat with that are going through the same thing I am at the same time.  I've tried joining a few communities and it's just never the right fit.  They're either HUGE so you post something and then have no idea which thread or forum you posted on was.  Or they're so small that you post something and don't hear anything back for a month.  I need someone who will tell me that I'm not nuts.  That it's ok that sometimes I can't go back to sleep after I get a discouraging BBT.  That it's normal to see every burp and flutter and ache as an obvious sign of pregnancy when it's so not true.  I know it's normal.  But sometimes it's nice to hear.  Misery loves company and all.

9. What are you looking forward to the most about being a new mom or having another baby?
I can't wait for that baby smell.  I'm looking forward to breast feeding again (if I can); that was just so empowering.  I want to experience birth again which for me was luckily amazing, especially that moment when you find out if it's a girl or a boy.  I want to see my daughter's face when she finally becomes a big sister.

10. Anything else you'd like to tell us or anything you think we should know about you?
I love to help others so if you have any questions, ask away!
1. First name?

2. Age? Location? Marital Status?
I'm ... 38. Yeah maybe I should apply for the "infertilees" community. In France. I'm married.

3. How did you find this community?
I was looking for subjects about "trying to conceive" on LJ.

4. How long have you been trying for a baby and what challenges do you have? (ie. medical issues, previous miscarriages, etc)
We've been trying for 18 months now. Since my cycles are regular and I don't have problems with my ovulation, and considering the fact my husband already had a spermogram and is OK, I can only guess it's something else ... that we haven't discovered yet.
I'm just about to have my first hysterosalpingography in two weeks.

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant?
I drastically changed my lifestyle. Read a lot about pregnancy, babies and everything... I saw an osteopath.

6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband?
After 1 years and a half of ttc, I'm rather negative about my chances of getting pregnant. My husband on the other hand is very positive. This would be our first kid. I'm taller than my husband. (I just read the text of a girl who is 6, I'm 6,1 myself ! :)

7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant?
I used to be very excited. Now it's becoming more and more like the hope of winning the lottery : it only happens to others ...

8. What do you hope to get out of being a member of this community?
i'd like to read about experiences, and find inspirational material. I also like to laugh and have a dark sense of humour. Not something which is always appreciated in our position. So maybe we can release the pressure in this community, amongst ourselves.

9. What are you looking forward to the most about being a new mom or having another baby?
I'm eager to discover the amazing experience of bringing a new human being in this world, and raise him/her to become a good person.

10. Anything else you'd like to tell us or anything you think we should know about you?
Our cat wants you to know that he'd very much appreciate a baby in the house.

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant? We've seen a gynecologist to check if there is a reason (besides endometriosis) that we can't conceive, as I suffer bad period pain each month. I'm about to go back as it's been a year of trying.
6. Tell us one or two random things about you and/or your husband? My husband is Dutch. I am 6 foot tall (random enough?)
7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant? Really down at the moment. I am sick of the pain each month and can't help feeling it'll never happen for us. Usually I'm a bit more positive, but today has been an emotional day.
8. What do you hope to get out of being a member of this community? I'd like to find some friends to talk to about ttc - and about life in general.
9. What are you looking forward to the most about being a new mom or having another baby? part of me doesn't believe I'll ever conceive. And part of me can't let myself picture being a mum because it'll hurt too much if it doesn't happen. But one of the things I would most love to see is my husband being a wonderful Dad to our child.
10. Anything else you'd like to tell us or anything you think we should know about you? I'm in a major wobble at the moment. I promise, normally I'm not this negative. I'm finding the process really hard as we come up to the one year mark. I also need a good outlet for my feelings. I'm hoping this will help. I will be more cheerful later on - honest!!

So, I just started charting about a cycle ago. (Started mid last cycle, and I'm mid next cycle) We've been TTC #3 for about 2 years now, with no luck. I conceived both of my boys naturally, without much of a problem at all. I started TTC about a year after an abortion(PG w/ #1 from a crazy ex, and met a new guy shortly after our breakup, it's crazy, I know.), which left me with some awful cramps for awhile afterward, and it took around 9-10 months to conceive after that. My second was conceived the cycle after my IUD was removed. Had a home birth with #2, no issues following.

(x posting to fam)

So here I am now. Obsessing, after trying naturally just "doing it" for almost a year. I take my temps within a 1/2 hour of each other, haven't been sick, and my thermometer is under my pillow, so I don't have to go far at all to reach it! I like to think they are as accurate of temps as possible. Fertility friend has not showed me any crosshairs at all, but Countdown to pregnancy shows I possibly ovulated on CD 18. (My periods have been pretty irregular after having baby #2) I'm mostly curious if my charts look at all "normal"? Seriously, ANY help is so greatly appreciated! Thank you! Here are my current charts from CTP, and FF!

I also have probable PCOS & anovulation.

5. What have you done so far to prepare for getting pregnant? repro-endo, metformin, clomid (did not work), actively trying to lose weight

7. How are you feeling about the prospect of getting pregnant? Antsy, anxious, impatient! And very very excited.

asian baby 1
I had just my day 3 and day 21 blood draws:  day 3 came back normal and day 21 came back with low progesterone.  After thinking about it, this makes sense because i still haven't ovulated this month (day 25 now).  I have a doctor's appointment on May 16 and I just want to make sure I ask her all the right questions.  My current issues are an irregular cycle (lasting anywhere between 21 and 42 days) and a short luteal phase (4-5 days long).  My last doctor blew off my concerns so I am excited to be seeing someone that I have heard really good things about. Are there any questions that I should be asking that I might not have thought of?  This is all pretty new to me!  Thanks!

If I recall correctly, I did ovulate every month since November when my period returned after the October miscarriage. I remember not having a lot of discharge each time. I didn't think much of it. This month when I ovulated I had a lot. That shocked me so I did a little research on the internet. Basically, the discharge helps the sperm travel to the egg. I'm thinking I did ovulate but not a lot of discharge was produced so the sperm had trouble getting up there. I wish I had known that before. I would've saved myself a lot of time thinking "This is it! I'm going to get pregnant this time." I honestly never paid to much attention to how much discharge would come when we started trying to start a family. I always just thought if I had some discharge, I ovulated so time to have sex.

So I'm hopeful this month is the month without getting my hopes up to high. Besides checking the amount of discharge, I need to make sure I take care of myself. I'm rundown after this past week so not off to a good start.

On to our 'trying to conceive baby #2 story'.

We put off having another kid because I wanted to wait at least 18 months to give my body time to get back together and to enjoy being a new mom. Then we put it off further because we ended up moving from HI to OK for work and then he had to be in VA for 6 months. I didn't want to move while pregnant and have him away for most of it. Finally we decided to start in Sep '12. Got pregnant then 2 weeks later had a miscarriage. Since Dec we've been trying again. Every time my period has come and right on it's usual schedule. I seemed to be ovulating on schedule as well based on that discharge some women get around that time.

I'm about 16dpo on my 2nd clomid cycle. I've had negative pregnancy tests, no symptoms of pregnancy, but no sign of AF about to start either. I didn't temp (haven't in a few years) but I had positive opk's, strong ovulation pain on both sides, and stretchy CM 16 - 17 days ago so I'm fairly certain that I did O then. Can clomid lengthen my LP? It's always been 14 days in the past.
Also I don't know if it matters, but last cycle (my 1st on clomid) I didn't O at all, and took provera to bring on a bleed. I've taken it several times in the past, but this time I didn't start bleeding until almost a week later than I had other times I've used provera. So maybe the clomid is doing something to delay my AF?
